Fir needle oil is extracted from the needles of the young branches of the silver fir tree using the process of steam distillation. The botanical name of this oil is Abies balsamea. It is thought from the older times to be a healer oil, and so it was used in the healing process of certain diseases. It is used on a wide scale because of its numerous vital properties. It has got amazing antiseptic properties that are crucial in the healing wounds and protecting them from getting infected. It is also used as a cough suppressant, tonic, in improving the rate of blood supply, and in stimulating the functioning of adrenal glands.
