Niaouli Essential Oil is very popularly used essential oil which is extracted from Melaleuca viridiflora using the process of steam distillation. It belongs to Myrtaceae family. The oil possesses excellent stimulating and antiseptic properties, because of which it is extensively used in aromatherapy. Niaouli Essential Oil’s usage is also in fame because of its applicability in catarrh, bronchitis, sinus, burns, boils, cuts, ulcers, acne and many other such ailments.
This evergreen large tree is native to New Caledonia, Australia, and the French Pacific Islands. It has got pointed straight leaves, sponge like bark, quite flexible trunk, and yellow flowers. It got its name from Captain Cook, who was a voyager in the 18th century. It was in the year 1788 that it was christened by its botanical name, after it was used in the obstetric wards of the French hospitals.
