Petitgrain essential oil is derived from Citrus aurantium var. amara (also known as petitgrain bigarade and Citrus). It is the member of Rutaceae family. This oil is really essential when it comes to boosting and stimulating the functioning of the mind, also bringing calm and soothing effect to panic and anger. This oil possesses relaxing features that aid in treating the problem of insomnia, and regulating the heartbeat and thus, also regulating the blood pressure.

 

Although Petitgrain essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the tree but at a time it was extracted from the green and small unripe fruits. These fruits were about the size of cherries and so the name petitgrain (also meaning little grain) was given to this oil. Mostly this oil is used as an active ingredient in many pharmaceutical and perfumery products.

Therapeutic Properties The essential therapeutic properties of Petitgrain oil are antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, anti-depressant, deodorant, sedative and nervine.
Blends Well With

Petitgrain oil mixes well with bergamot, lavender, palmarosa, geranium, rosewood and sandalwood.

Avoid petitgrain essential oil during pregnancy.
