This Rose geranium essential oil is derived from the plant Pelargonium graveolens which belongs to Geraniaceae family. The aroma of this oil is a bit rosier. The aroma of the oil the is more like rose and more intense when oil is made from the leaves when they have started to turn yellow. When the leaves are green then its aroma isn’t that rosier. This oil is effective in balancing the nervous system as it capable of stimulating the adrenal cortex. People often use this oil to treat mental disorders like anxiety, depression and stress as this oil is able to regulate the secretion of hormones.

 

The origin of this plant is said to be mainly in South Africa, but the credit is also shared by countries like Madagascar, Reunion, Morocco and Egypt. It was in the seventeenth century that this plant was introduced to the European countries. This oil is much used because of its properties like anti-depressant, astringent, cicatrisant, antiseptic, diuretic, styptic, and vulnerary and other such properties.
