Petitgrain essential oil is derived from Citrus aurantium var. amara (also known as petitgrain bigarade and Citrus). It is the member of Rutaceae family. This oil is really essential when it comes to boosting and stimulating the functioning of the mind, also bringing calm and soothing effect to panic and anger. Although Petitgrain essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the tree but at a time it was extracted from the green and small unripe fruits. These fruits were about the size of cherries and so the name petitgrain (also meaning little grain) was given to this oil.
