Black pepper oil is actually extracted from the Piper nigrum which belongs to the family of Piperaceae. The leaves of black pepper are recognized for its strong fragrance and they also contain sugar, tannic acid, and amylum. It is extracted with the help of steam distillation method.

Origin The origin of this oil is India. Mainly, it is found in southwest India. The other nations which are known for its cultivation are Indonesia, Malaysia and China. This plant has the tendency to grow till 16 feet and has got leaves in heart shape.
Method of Extraction & Part of Plant Used The black pepper oil is extracted through the process of steam distillation from the fruit of the plant known as Piper nigrum. These fruit are also known as peppercorns. They are in an unripe condition and are then dried in sunlight before the oil is extracted out of them. The yield of the oil from the fruit is of about 2 percent.
Properties

This oil is yellowish brown in color.

Aroma

The fragrance of this oil is strong and spicy. It actually resembles to that of the clove oil.

Integrants The components of black pepper oil are b-bisabolene, a-pinene, a-thujonecamphene, b-farnesene, sabinene, b-pinene, caryophyllene, myrcene, limonene, linalool, a-phellandrene and terpinen-4-ol.
